Doug recently attended the National Taxidermist Associations Annual convention and competition held at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Springfield Il, July 15th-July 18th 2010.

At the convention Doug and three other members of the Lincolnland Safari Club International Chapter took the SCI Master measures course. As a certified official measurer, the hands on course is required to earn the Master Measurer certification. The applicants had to score 25 trophies within a designated time and be accurate within 3%. The trophy’s ranged from Hippo tusks a Leopard skull, Marhor, Fallow Deer, many African and several North American Deer and sheep species.

Master Measurers are required to score any SCI entry that might fall in the top 10 of that species. Doug is pictured with the Master Measurer instructor Herb Atkinson from Roswell Mew Mexico upon successfully passing the test. Our chapter has the only four Master Measurers in Illinois.

Safari Club International has more entries in its record books than Pope and Young and Boone and Crockett combined. The SCI system gives the trophy its full potential by eliminating deductions that are standard to the other scoring systems.

While a convention Doug Took a 2nd and 3rd place with his entered and judged mounts.

Doug and Brenda attended the Illinois Taxidermists Associations 30th anniversary Competion and convention In Springfield, Illinois held March 26-28th 2010. Along with other past Association presidents, Doug served as a presenter for special awards during the ceremonies.

At the competition Doug was awarded a first place and Best of Catagory in the Freeze-Dry professional division and a third place in the professional reproductions for a Rainbow trout.

Brenda and I have just returned from scoring at the Illinois Deer Classic held February 26th to 28th, 2010 in Bloomington, Illinois. Below are pictures of some of the great deer on display. I do not know who harvested or mounted them. The first picture is of the new Illinois 256" state record buck.

You never know what a client might bring in... usually they are dead.
